Growing in Wonder, Rooted in Community

Children engaging in creative learning activities in a classroom in the Presidio.

About Us

We are a full day, full year school nestled in the Presidio of San Francisco, offering educational programs for children ages 2 - 5.

Our school supports the belief that children learn through play, exploration, and discovery within the context of nurturing and reciprocal influences of children, parents, and teachers.

Our Mission

To honor and nurture a diverse community of children to reach their potential as learners, participants, stewards, and critical thinkers in society.

To empower those in the presence of children with knowledge, skills, and resources to raise and teach children with respect and dignity.

Curriculum

The curriculum at Cypress School is based on play, inquiry, exploration, developing relationships, and love of learning according to the natural patterns of the individual child within the context of group learning experiences.

Our curriculum is based on the constructivist philosophy in which children construct knowledge and understanding from authentic, real-life experiences — which make connections that foster inquiry and inspire critical thinking.

We commit to celebrating diversity in all its forms and developing thoughtful citizens of the world.  Our diverse community of children, family members, caregivers, and faculty learn and play in interconnected and interdependent relationships.
